There are soooo many great sports movies. Great thread... I bet I could name 50+ of them. I have too many favorites, but here are one in each category to add to your list (not picking any of your favorites:
Football: Remember the Titans
Baseball: The Sandlot
Basketball: Teen Wolf
Wrestling: Vision Quest (filmed right here in Spokane)
Golf: Happy Gilmore
Figure Skating: Blades of Glory (Yes I know this comes out tomorrow, but it should be hilarious and has to be better than "The Cutting Edge"
Boxing: Rocky (1-4, any of them)
Bobsledding: Cool Runnings

O.K.
small revisions
The sandlot is really good, but for a pure baseball movie I'd still go with the natural
I forgot about wrestling, and Vision quest is the best.
I switch to Happy Gilmore on Golf...good call on that one
skating-we'll see, I was close with going to slap shot
Boxing-what about Cinderella Man?
Bobsledding-ok, is there any others?
AND Teen Wolf...Now that is just plain funny

Rotten tomatoes (the movie site) has a terrible list of the top 100 sports movies. In the top 10 is a movie about cricket in india and rudy is # 46. Are these people on crack! I love movies but these geeks really don't know anything about sports and what makes a good sports movie.

I can't believe that list plu. Like you said, they must not have been big sports fans who composed this list. Many of their top 10 I have no desire to see or just plain weren't that great. Bull Durham is a good movie and is perhaps Top 40 worthy, but definitely not #1. Crazy... I think they got 1-10 and 11-20 mixed up as they have Rocky, Million Dollar Baby and Hoosiers in their second 10.

"21. SHAOLIN SOCCER- I can’t believe this! " This is probably the stupidest entry. This movie, a Disney daytime movie at best, higher that those other movies. I'm sorry but, "what the h***"
I usually find Rotten Tomatoes an entertaining site but this is nuts.

Hey Casey - thanks for the reply - I'm pretty sure that "Over the Top" was the only arm wrestling movie ever made - but had to list it all the same - I figured it could just fit into the general wrestling catergory. Since you already listed the best wrestling movie ever (Vision Quest), I had to go with the second best.
