M's
Baseball is here and the M's are looking good.
I like the Mariners chances this year to knock off those darn Angels. I like the additions in the pitching staff as I think we have three very strong starters with Felix the Cat, Bedard & Washburn. In addition to these three, I think we will see much more productivity out of Feieraband who could become a strong four with rubber arm Battista as five. Bullpen looks good with the man JJ Putz closing the deal.
Offensively, I think we will be ok as well. Was sad to see Adam Jones go and Richie Sexson stay..... but can't have it all I guess. I am curious to see who plays right field with the loss of Guillen from steroids.
It would be great to see the M's get back into the post season this year - they can do it!
Any M's fans?

Yeppers, i agree with you Travis. THe M's will be ok, thats for sure. I am glad to be getting back to the Northwest so i can watch more Ms games, those Rockies games just didnt do it for me, even tho they made it to the WS. It all starts with the pitching and the Ms look real strong in that department. Im sure their hitting will be fine, they just need to get rid of Richie" I am the Strikeout King" Sexson. looks like it will be a fine year.
And now to my real team, They will be back this year!! And i know Simon will hate to hear this, but THE BRAVES are back baby!!! Chipper is healthy, we have Texeira for a full season and hopefully longer if they open up their checkbook. the pitching will be good, if Hampton can stay healthy and they can get a decent year out of Glavine. Smoltz and Hudson will be strong once again. Young offense overall, so we will see what happens.

I agree it just doesn't seem like baseball without the Braves being a big part of it. I hope they can stay healthy this year. Being on the east coast now, I'm looking to drive down to Atlanta for a couple of games. When I was in Tucson this was the best time of the year with spring-training with the D-backs, Rockies, Whitesox all being there. Got some great pictures of the Randy Johnson, Mark Grace, Luis Gonzalez... $10 tickets you can't beat it.

I'm with you on the Braves. Growing up we had two choices: Cubs (WGN) or Braves (TBS). We couldn't really watch enough M's games to be a fan. So I was a Braves fan as a kid. Which was very hard considering how bad they were through most of the 80's! I finally got to see them live in a game a couple years ago when they were playing the Marlins. From a Luxury box no less! Won a raffle and got the tickets when I was in Florida watching my wife in a baseball tournament.Mike Dye wrote:I agree it just doesn't seem like baseball without the Braves being a big part of it. Re: M's
Caps, don't forget that the Mariners signed Carlos Silva from the Twins. He will be their #3 starter and has been pitching very well in the spring. I don't see Feierband in their starting 5.Travis Fulton wrote:I like the additions in the pitching staff as I think we have three very strong starters with Felix the Cat, Bedard & Washburn. Good call Fish - I forgot about Silva........better then Washburn you think? I hope so as this really solidifies there rotation. Feieraband should be better this year - I cheer for that kid.
Braves should be good - no excuse "Pipe" on the Braves being your favorite team. Come on guys - M's right around the corner and you choose the Braves.........what happened? Skip Carey, Dale Murphy, Terry Pendleton over Alvin Davis, Harold Reynolds & Spike Owen?
Ken Griffey Jr. or David Justice?
Tino Martinez or Sid Bream?
Jay Buhner or Ron Gant?
Bobby Ayala or John Smoltz? ............Alright you win that one.
Mariners versus Braves in the World Series this year.

Simon, I'd rather see the Yankee's (puke) on that list.
As far as Richie goes, I'll be the first to agree that he has sucked the last 1 1/2 years, but this is a contract year and I think keeping him for one more is a good thing, then we just don't keep him.
On pitching, I love our starters, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be all hype. I don't think so though. Ol' Mel and the sheriff will whip them into shape. I also love that they will be alternating lefty's and righty's for series change ups.
I just can't wait for the season. I've already purchased 3 games and I am looking into a couple more.

Same here Stovern. I was a Braves fan from the beginning, it was either the Cubs(gag) or the braves, and at least the Braves had a division title in the eighties and one of the premier players(see Dale Murphy). But as i got older the Mariners got better, so now that i will be in the NW again, The Mariners will be my AL team and the Braves my NL(all time also) team. Braves over the mariners in 6 games Trav! LOL.Brian Stovern wrote:I'm with you on the Braves. Growing up we had two choices: Cubs (WGN) or Braves (TBS). We couldn't really watch enough M's games to be a fan. So I was a Braves fan as a kid. All true and fair I grew up watching Dale Murphy too and I'm so disappointed he hasn't got the nod yet for Cooperstown
But I really enjoyed watching Jr. play, he is still one of my all time favorites.
And Richie has been hurt for a few yrs now, when he got traded to Arizona (which they gave up some good prospects for) he couldn't live up to the hype as was hurt all the time.
And I agree with Brian you ban Braves and you got to ban Irish too...

I'm lucky if I go to 1 game a year, but that's more because I don't really like watching baseball live. It's like watching paint dry. On TV you at least have the announcers, instant replay, and beer that cost less than a weeks pay!Travis Fulton wrote:Good call Fish - I forgot about Silva........better then Washburn you think? Justice, Bream, Grant, Glavine, Smoltz were all long after the time I was already a fan. I was more in the Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, Chris Chamblis days.

M's are at .366 winning percentage and officially the worst team in baseball.
Now, they want Griffey back? I love Griffey but we are in no position to be a retirement home as well.
Might as well give Alvin Davis a call as I am confident he could do the job Sexson is doing
McLaren has to go.
