I went to the M's game against the rangers when Bautista gave up 7 and then Baek gave up 3. I was terrible. The least amount of people I've ever seen attend a game that I was at. I just don't know what to say about the M's, I'd like to say it's a chemistry problem, but...I'm just sick of it anyway. This IS a building year now, as far as I'm concerned.

:P I'm still going to another 8 games this year though!

Look no further then the head coach - I often wonder when the camera is on him if his eyes are even open? :?

Lou Pinella or Hargrove would have been all over these guys 20 games ago.......demanding effort and results. Instead, it just looks like there is no heart or passion what-so-ever. Remember, Hargrove had basically the same team and he had them playing well. They look like an unorganized wiffle ball team at Vergobbi Field, perhaps they should put a layer of duct tape on the bat :)

Nice!!! Except they aren't Nolan Ryan when they are pitching and Tony Gwynn when they are batting. LOL.

M's humiliated in Detroit - they looked like they didn't even belong in the major leagues. The Tigers are a good team but yet way below .500.......it looked like the Jamison soft ball team against the IGA little league team.

Check out these averages:

Beltre...246 - Maybe shouldn't be joking around with the opponents on 3rd base when getting beat 9-2 for the third consecutive night.
Sexson....206 - Please go somewhere else - have you ever seen someone so big look so small?
Johjima....217 - Love the guy but can't hit his ass with a hand full of rice.
Vidro......208 - Just celebrated his 41st birthday - veteran hitter but lets move on please.
Balentein....219 - Your guess is as good as mine

ERA:

Silva.....4.91 ERA
Batista...6.47 ERA
Washburn...6.99 ERA

It is time to start cleaning house but even then I question if we have the right management to trade our big names for young players. Something needs to change as the Mariners have really gone backwards.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

Awesome post Trav... I also can't believe that they designated Chau Sun-Baek for assignment. Give the guy a chance. He never pitched unless the starter was knocked out of the game in 3 innings. Everytime he took the mound the Mariners were down 6 runs. How in the world is he the fall guy? Give him a chance to start a game. He can't do any worse than Washburn or Battista.

You can't win many games when 7 of the 9 guys in your lineup hit between .200 and .250.

I agree, it's time to clean house...

Also, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see them get swept by the Yankees again this weekend. Hope everyone has a better 3-day weekend than our team!!!

13-2 Yankees

I agree Fish about Baek - give the guy a shot. Heck, not only at pitching but maybe he could play first base, dh or perhaps manage?

This is now 43 runs they have given up in four games. Brian St Peter is pitching tomorrow for the M's so they should get things turned around.

Nice one... I guess the bright side of this whole season is that most of our summer will be free as I won't spend more than an inning or two per day watching the worst team in MLB...

I'm already excited for all the off season changes that are coming. I can't wait for Canceco (sp) to Manage the team, clement, felix, and balentine will be traded for first baseman Daric Barton for 100 million over 5 years.

Nice one Nords... Speaking of Canseco, did you see that he is fighting on Pay-Per-View this summer against former NFL punt returner Vai Sikahema!!! No, I am not making this up. I could not be this creative. I think it is in July and will be a boxing match. Canseco needs the money to get out of debt the article said...

I think he should just give everyone he mentioned in his steroids book $10 grand to punch him in the face. He could get some cash that way. LOL.

It's beyond words Mike. Like we've said for months/years Bavasi and McLaren should be fired... The team stinks... The only bright spot in the whole organization is Jose Lopez along with Felix.

I am trying to look at this objectively. I can't undestand why Bill Bavasi keeps getting a vote of confidence year after year and the Mariners have had losing records, except for 2007 since he took over as GM. Maybe the Mariners thought they were hiring his father Buzzi?? Obviously he didn't inherit his father's ability as a GM. Look at a few of his more illustrious signings: Carl Everett, Rich Aurilia, Scott Spiezio, Matt Lawton, Jeff Weaver, Jarrod Washburn, Richie Sexson (15.5 million to hit .205 last year). Bavasi should have been fired after the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. He also traded away Freddy Garcia and Carlos Guillen who both contributed heavily to World Championships. Eric Bedard will probably be a good trade in the long run, but he has had physical problems last year with the O's and this year with the Mariners. George Sherril has done well with the O's (20 saves). Adam Jones may be a pretty good player in the future, so that trade is up in the air.
Bottom line I think the Mariners were overrated going into the season and not enough changes were made to move them up into the contender catagory. No pitching depth, lack of percentage hitters, lack of leadership, the one player with some fire Raul Ibanez is 36, no bench, no clutch hitting, poor management. Hideous road record. No reason to beat a dead horse. Solutions clean house starting with Bill Bavasi today and John Mclaren as soon as a new GM is hired. A manager is needed, who knows how to lead players not go into tirades for the sake of tirades. Unfortunately they had a couple of managers who were in that category and are no longer with the organization.

best,
Lauren

Well my wife is a big fan and she makes me watch the M's when I have been a bad boy..... LOL>>>>>>>>

I have always loved sports.

Actually I started out writing for the Kellogg Evening News and tried to follow in my fathers footsteps which were fairly large(he was the Sports Editor for the Evening News from around 1945 to the late 70's when he developed severe eye problems and had to retire). I also was the Sports Editor for the Kellogg Wildcat and the Editor of the paper my senior year. Just a little background...

Well the first of hopefully a few major moves started today as the Mariners fired hitting coach Jeff Pentland. Makes sense since the team batting average is .248... Now only if Bavasi and McLaren will get fired, then we will get somewhere...

He is the sacrficial lamb. You can't teach something to someone who either can't or doesn't want to learn. I am not saying he shouldn't go, but it needs to start at the top...

Just my opine..
