Lookin at a new mountain bike

Looking at buying anew Mountain Bike. Any good bike shops with good deals in the Spokane/CDA Area? I want a full suspension bike, they are so nice to ride.. Any ideas what brand? im looking at Trek, Specialized, etc.

I think the best way to go is to buy a rental at the end of the season. Both Excelsior and Silver Mt. do this I believe. As far as full suspension, I have been doing a lot of riding and recently most of it has been on the pavement (pulling Gracie etc). The full suspension is nice for off road stuff, but it actually makes riding more work if you are doing a lot of pedaling. I ride up Wardner for a workout and I can feel the suspension sucking my energy.

Anyway, there are tons of great bikes out there. But I view it the same way I view cars. Buying a brand new car just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The amount of depreciation that occurs just driving it off the lot is nuts. You can get a sweet used bike for a fraction of the cost of a new one, and rentals have been maintained very well.

I would also look on craigslist. Tons of opportunities there too.

Simon, u make a very good point about the full suspension bikes. But u could also stiffen the suspension. I do have a Schwinn front suspension bike, and i like it alot, but i need a bigger framed bike. But most every bit of my riding is on the road also, so sticking with a refular hardtail with front suspension would be nice. I did ride that trek of my buddies and he has the rear suspension stiff, and his bike sure seemed easier to ride than mine. I might have to look into the end of season rentals and try them out that way, thats a good idea.
