Olaf "Lynn" Waller, 62, of Smelterville, passed away April 11, 2010, in the Steamboat drainage area, due to an accidental fall. He was born Dec. 24, 1947, at Alton, Mo.; Lynn was the son of Otto and Helen (Hollis) Waller.
Lynn moved to the Silver Valley on April 1, 1955, from Missouri. He attended and graduated from Kellogg High School in 1967. Lynn served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Lynn had served in the logging business and had worked for various logging companies in the area; he had also worked for the Bear Creek Saw Mill.
Lynn loved and enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, camping, getting firewood and just loved being in the outdoors.
Lynn is survived by five children - Candace Short of Smelterville, Justine and Keith Lund of Coeur d'Alene, Shawn Waller of Kingston, Jason and Cassie Waller of Cataldo, and Kimberly Waller of Rathdrum, ID; 13 grandchildren; five sisters - Chloetta Derr of Post Falls, Cleora Lambert of Pinehurst, Linda Swan of Pinehurst, Glenda Sawyer of Pinehurst and Jeanette James of Pinehurst; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son - Lane Waller.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at the Shoshone Memorial Gardens of Pinehurst.
