Okay, now that Lewis has opted out i'd like to know what you Sonic fans want to happen.

IMHO I feel the Sonics should seek out a sign and trade. The Sonics can offer Lewis a max contract so they are most definitely front runners in that area but why not try to upgrade the PG position since Durant is all but signed allready. Just about every team in the NBA would knock down the door for a chance to lock up Lewis for 6-7 years and most would be willing to give up a true PG to do it. Now i'm not talking about Jason Kidd (age reasons) or Baron Davis (same as Kidd) and i'm not suggesting there is a PG in the league that you could swap 1 for 1 with RaLew. Look what the aquisition of TJ Ford did for the Raptors - there is no way in sports history that they would have contended in the East with Charlie Villanueava instead of TJ Ford. In this version of the National Basketball Association you need a damn solid point guard if your going to expect to do anything (unless you have a dynamic duo like Shaq-Kobe). As good as Dallas is right now imagine if they still had Steve Nash. Chauncy Billups is a free agent - if he doesn't resign with Detriot that franchise will be back to 4th to 5th best in the East. So with all that said - if I was playing GM in Seattle i'd seek out a sign and trade partner with the best possible point guard I could get... Gilbert Arenas.... Joe Johnson.... Mo Williams - not only can those 3 run the point but they can tinkle the twine. Go ahead and say "What about Luke Ridnour and Earl Watson" - where has that gotten them??? Now is the time for the Sonics to put together the greatest lineup fans have seen since the days of Kemp, Payton, McMillan, Schrempf and Mcllvaine (that ones for you Fish).

Lets hear the good word Sonic Fans - play GM.

I would love for the Sonics to sign and trade him. That would be the most ideal situation... Like you said Roops, Rashard Lewis is a great player in the league and he definitely has some serious value. With Durant coming in, who basically plays the same position and Damien Wilkins as a back-up, there is no real room for Rashard on the team. I agree 100% in that they need a point guard. Ridnour is a good offensive player, but he is way undersized and cannot "d" up any of the top point guards in the league. Someone like Mo Williams would be a good pickup. I don't think there's any way in the world that GS would trade Baron Davis right now after how he performed in the playoffs, especially not for Rashard Lewis. Arenas is one of the top players in the NBA so I don't see him getting traded either...

If they do a sign and trade, the Sonics will probably get the worse end of the deal, just for the fact that any trade is better than losing him to free agency. The West is so loaded that I don't want to help out any West team. So hopefully it will be for a good point guard in the Eastern Conference. I don't know if the Bulls would part with Gordon, but maybe Hinrich? I just don't know... Despite getting Durant this will more than likely be a very sad last year for true Seattle SuperSonics fans.

Here are my GM moves:

Sonics sign and trade Forward Rashard Lewis & Forward Nick Collison to the Bulls for Guard Ben Gordon & 2008 2nd Round pick.

AND...

Sonics trade #2 pick Kevin Durant and Guard Earl Watson to the Lakers for Guard Kobe Bryant.

P.S. Thanks for the Jim McIllvaine comment Roops. Great call... He is definitely in the Top 10 for worst free agent signings in pro sports history.

Well here we go - Kobe wants out and I say amen to trading that cancer. If the Sonics want to make a serious run at reviving the fan base and keeping the franchise in Seattle now it their biggest opportunity.

Sign Rashard Lewis to a max deal and package him up in a move to L.A. for Kobe Bryant. DO NOT include the rights to Kevin Durant. This deal works because of the contract sizes - I don't think the Sonics have the financial flexibility to simply deal the #2 pick and an Earl Watson/Nick Collison/Luke Ridnour.

How would the Sonic fans love to see this Line up for the following 4-5 years:

PG - Chauncy Billups (if they make a splash to get Kobe then they could follow it up with a signing of Billups) - not likely but i'm putting it out there.
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Kobe Bryant
PF - Nick Collison
C - Bob Swift

6th man - Kevin Durant

W/O Billups

PG - Kobe Bryant
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Kevin Durant
PF - Nick Collison
C - Bob Swift

6th man - Damien Wilkins

That would be real, real nice either way Roops. If Kobe, Ray Allen, and Durant were on the same team, lets just say it would be something special to watch... Knowing my Seattle teams, I think it is highly unlikely to happen. They probably won't do much of anything and I wouldn't be surprised to see them just let Rashard go for nothing...

Also, I don't see Chauncey Billups leaving Detroit. Rip has already said that he wants out if they let Chauncey leave.
