Their whole pitching staff has been a little bit shaky this year with the exception of Felix. I'm not too worried yet though as it is still early. Their next 3 series' are against the rest of their division. The next 10 days or so will say a lot about where the M's will finish this year.

Not good when Richie Sexson only hits one ball out of the infield in the whole 3-game series vs. the Angels.

How 'bout that Jeff Weaver - money well spent huh. Sheesh, He was an excellent pitcher in Detroit but lost it all when he went to the YankMees.

As soon as Felix comes back, Seattle will be paying $8 Million for a long-reliever. I wouldn't be surprised to see them designate him for assignment and cut ties with him later on. What a big pickup!!!

Taking a gamble on Weaver was just fine considering the pitching staff going into the season - paying $8 million was absurd. Seattle needs a new GM - I could put a contender on the field and only spend what they are paying Sexson, Beltre, Weaver and Washburn combined.

Now you guys are singing my song! YEP, GM need to go! YEP, ship out Weaver to save the season (Long reliever? He often gives up 3-6 runs in an inning. I don't think the M's can afford a long relief performance from him). YEP, lets bring up more young, cheap, and eager players. And, I hate to say it, we need to trade Ichiro for something, WAIT, I just remembered that Bavasi is in charge of arranging trades. Well, we would be better off keeping him.

no way on trading Ichiro unless he makes the trade demand. You don't trade the face of your franchise w/o that player requesting it. The way the M's have struggled the past few seasons it's amazing they have been able to maintain a steady fan base - the last thing they should want to do is trade the 1 player that M's fans truely flock to see. I think Fish made the right call on Weaver - designate him for assignment and hope that someone picked him up so you didn't have to eat his full contract.

You watch... A National League team will pick him up and he will pitch above average the rest of the year. I can already see it happening, jut like him in the post season last year with St. Louis.

Little tidbit, Relief pitcher for the Yankees, Brian Brunnie, that pitch in the 8th today is from Warrenton Oregon. I watch him pitch in high school. The school he went to is the size of Wallace now. My brother in law trained him to be a box boy at the local grocery and has since then received all the signed autographed cards he wants. I didn't even remember that until I saw him in the game today. I hate the Yankees but I'm glad he did well today.

BUT, the M's did down the Yanks 2-1 in this series!!! Go M's!!!

What if...the M's got rid of Bautista and Weaver...
New starting rotation...
1. King Felix
2. Washburn
3. Ramirez
4. Baek
5. Morrow

Bring up woods and play O'flaterney (sp) more to fill Morrow's spot. You would still have Sherill and could make room to try out other young pitchers.

it's not like Bautista has laid a complete egg this season. The last thing the M's should do is put Morrow in the starting rotation - let him gain as much experience as possible in the bullpen. The better solution may be just don't let Ramirez pitch on the road, sheesh.

Boy, it sure was nice to see King Felix back on the mound last night. I am so happy that despite having the game in hand by the 3rd Inning, they didn't elevate his pitch count for him to go the 5 innings just to get him the win. Very smart move by the Mariners. They definitely need to weed Felix back slowly just to make sure the injury is completely healed.

I also see that the Dodgers finally ended a 10-game losing streak to the Cardinals last night. This must have made one resident sports man very happy...

Also, I have to take a rib at Knox. He hasn't been on here in awhile and he beat me in the Championship game of our Fantasy NBA league. What has happened to your Cardinals this year? 8 games back of Milwaukee? In 5th place in their division? Behind the Pittsburgh Pirates??? Okay, okay, I would take a Mariners World Series Title and then finish in last place for the next 10 years, but what's up with your boys Knox?

It was nice to finaly beat the Cards but the Dodgers still need a lot of help with that singles hitting lineup. I heard Peter Gammons report that the Dodgers were looking into a possible deal with the Blue Jays to get Troy Glaus - a good power bat but he's so injury prone and not nearly as comfortable playing in the NL. Ned Coletti has done a great job getting key players without giving up too much young talent from the farm system but Gammons reported the Jays wanted Andy Laroche - bad idea!

At the risk of imitating the "talking sports out of my butt" guy on the ESPN commercials, I will only comment on how much I learn about baseball by reading this thread. Roops, Nords, and Rock, you guys are all gurus! Who needs Peter Gammons!?

LOL Golf Coach. Thanks for the props. We at least think we are geniuses... LOL.

Roops, I'll send Big Richie Sexson your way in a deal involving Andy Laroche. LOL... The sad thing is that Bavasi probably wouldn't pull the trigger on something like this...

No, Bavasi would want to send Richi, Beltre, and some player to be named later who will end up being a league MVP.

Roops, that comment on the league board is a joke. I posted it and then thought some might not think it was funny.
