College Basketball 2007-08
Well, there is officially 3,568 hours until the NCAA Tournament starts. Can you tell I am excited?!?!?! It is going to be a great year for Northwest hoops fans. The Zags will be absolute dynamite this season, and Washington State is arguably better than Gonzaga. The official pre-season rankings haven’t came out yet, but all the magazines I have been reading have Gonzaga between #10 and #15 in the nation and they all have Washington State between #5 and #10 in the nation. When the Cougs come to the Kennel on December 5, it will be absolute pandemonium and both teams could be ranked in the top 10…
For those of you who don’t know, the Zags are having an intra-squad scrimmage at 7:00 p.m on Friday night. There will also be a slam-dunk contest. It is free to the public. The doors open at 6:00 until every seat in the house is full.
Anyways, I figured I would start the “official” college hoops thread for us to use for the season.

Here are the 5 games I am looking forward to the most this season:
Dec. 5 – Washington State at Gonzaga – Who could ask for more this season if you are a fan of both teams.
Dec. 29 – “Battle in Seattle” Gonzaga vs. Tennessee – The Vols should be a top 10 team this year
Jan. 12 – Washington State at UCLA – Two possible top 5 teams meeting early in the Pac-10 season.
Jan. 26 – Gonzaga at Memphis – In my opinion Memphis is the #1 team in the nation and may very well be ranked there when these two teams play.
Feb. 7 – UCLA at Washington State – The 2nd go-around

You had to go and start a post like this and i am stuck here in korea and go to any of those games!!!! How dare u??? I am as excited as anyone, i was hoping to be home in March so i could watch March Madness in my recliner while i was home, now i am stuck here until May, but i will manage. We have TVs in all of our offices so the TV will be on the channel the games are on. I cant wait to get back next year and go to some of the games at the Kennel, it will be fun to watch one of the best programs in the country in person. With the exception of my UNLV Runnin' Rebels, Gonzaga is my fav program. All these teams u mentioned above will be absolutely fun to watch. I am aslo looking forward to watching some ACC teams, UNC is going to tear it up, they are stacked once again this year. The season couldnt start any sooner for us. Lets get a bracket started on here for all of us once the tourney teams are picked, and we all can put in 5 bucks. In my opinion, March Madness is the greatest event in Sports.

Ken, I'm glad I got your basketball juices flowing. That is a bummer that you won't be here in March... Besides GU and Wazzu, I am also anxious to watch North Carolina, Memphis, and the whole Pac-10 in general play this year. This will be the best Pac-10 conference they have ever had. The Washington Huskies are the 8th best team in the conference and they are pretty darn good. It will be fun to watch... A few of my small-market favorite teams to watch are Southern Illinois who plays tremendous defense and plays with intensity, and Butler is going to be real good again and I like them as well.
I can't wait. Just 2 more weeks until the season starts...

A Fox Sports article basically stated that it would be a surprise if the Zags didn't make it to the sweet 16 and it wouldn't be a surprise if they made it to the final four this year. I would like to believe him. I love the Zags, but the last few years have been mildly disappointing. Mark Few has done an awesome job in Spokane, and since he has builts this complete team I hope they go far this year. GO ZAGS!!!

I've been trying not to get too excited for this year before it even begins! Can't wait to see some of the new freshman. The Juco guy (can't really call him a kid) should be exciting too. Kind of like Errol Knight from a couple years ago. Athletic as hell and tries to dunk everything is how Few described him.

Brian, we can get excited, even if the Zags get to the Sweet Sixteen or Elite 8, it will be a good year, we have to remember these bigger schools have a huge advantage over Coach Few and his recruiting. Coach Few is making a name for himself, and its only going to get better especially if he stays there, which i think he will. He is a small town guy and loves Spokane. THe Zags will dominate the WCC once again, the onyl thing that i fear is a high ranking and huge expectations with that ranking, especially if they creep into the top 5 at one point in the season. Should be a fun year to watch no matter what. It is the best season and post season in sports!! who wouldnt get excited about it!

The season is officially underway!!! I was just reading a great article on espn about "Who is the face of the sport?" You don't have lightning rod personalities like Adam Morrison, J.J. Redick and Joakim Noah. You don't have returning superstars like Kevin Durant or Greg Oden.
This year is truly going to be about the name on the front of the jersey and not the back. I absolutely love it!!! Here's to the Zags, Cougs, or whomever your team may be...

Jay Bilas wrote a great article about how good college basketball would be this year if kids had to go to school for all 4 years. It boggles the mind to think what the game would be like if these players had stuck around and were dotted across the college basketball landscape right now. All of these players would still have college eligibility right now...

Big win for the Zags last night over UNC... Two years in a row they have beaten UNC... Okay, okay it wasn't over The #1 ranked UNC, just University of Northern Colorado. But last year they beat #2 ranked North Carolina, so at least they can say they have beaten UNC 2 years in a row and are not lying. LOL.
