Let the Mayhem Begin
I wanted to start a thread that can be the official "March Madness" thread. Talk about match ups, games, etc here.

Here are the 3 things that stood out the most for me from yesterday's selection show:
1. Gonzaga is in trouble
2. Butler got hosed worse than any team has in many years with their seed
3. Washington State is going to get to play and hopefully beat Notre Dame

I agree with Casey, the Zags are in serious trouble. I hate to say it, but I don't think they will make it out of the opening round. If they do, they at least get rewarded with an easy second round game(friggin Georgetown). lol. Wisconsin and Georgetown will be a good Sweet 16 game.
So, being resigned to the Zags not going far, WSU has a great chance to get to the round on 16. I like the way they match up with Notre Dame in the second round.
Who are you going for in that game Simon?
Roops, watch out for Saint Mary's if they get by Miami. They are much more physical than Texas, it will just be a matter of can they deal with the Texas guards or not.
Anybody, how the heck did Arizona get in? That's the most disgusting thing I've seen in awhile. Virgina Tech deserved it way more than they did.
Memphis and Pittsburgh will be an awsome Sweet 16 if they both get there.
Anyway, should be a good one this year.

Matt - I saw that potential 2nd round game and knew instantly it was a matchup I didn't want to see.Matt Morgan wrote:Roops, watch out for Saint Mary's if they get by Miami. They are much more physical than Texas, it will just be a matter of can they deal with the Texas guards or not.

The 'Horns did beat St Marys this year on January 5th in Austin, 81-62, but the game was much closer than the final score would indicate. I think both teams are vastly different now then they were back on January 5th. Texas was only about 6 deep then and now can run out atleast 7, lol. St Marys is battle tested and ready to win a big tournament game but they will need to get by a game Miami U first - i'll be rooting for St Marys, for one round atleast.
Forget about Arizona - how in the heck did Oregon get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will be a fun tourny to watch, thats for sure. I cant believe Kentucky got in!!! of all the teams, Kentucky, Oregon and AZ should not even be there. I heard Dickie V talkin about other teams that deserved to be there like Syracuse( i hate to say this Dickie, but u are wrong, the committee got that one right).Matt Morgan wrote:I agree with Casey, the Zags are in serious trouble. Gonzaga is in serious trouble, but can still win the first game. But to get a second round match-up against Gtown is not good for their psych, but Geourgetown is beatable. All they need to do is get their bigs in foul trouble and contain their guards, oh wait, that would mean they would have to play defense an hustle!! forget what i said.
Everyone talks of UNCs tough road, but i dont think their road is any tougher than anyone else, heck, they get o play at home the first two weekends.
Oh and WAZZU agaisnt ND, that will be a good matchup for sure, WAZZU beats them, sorry Simon, we are all being Haters once again!!!
My Final 4 consists of UNC, UCLA, Georgetown and Texas, with UNC beating UCLA in the Championship.

Now why do you have to go and do that? We are still smacking it into nets inside waiting for the final foot of snow to melt off.Travis Fulton wrote:
Gotta go - tee time tomorrow. Only 77 degrees today.
Actually, we are getting some serious work in on the GPA so the bad weather is a blessing in disguise.

I'll be watching all I can tomorrow. Probably have the ticker up on my computer at work. I have friday off, so I'll be camped out in front of the TV most of the day watching hoops. I'm not counting out Gonzaga yet. With the proper motivation they are still one of the better teams around, and they have always done better when the expectations were lower.
