Bret James Marting, age 47, of Gillette, Wyo., died on Wednesday, May 6 due to a work-related accident. Mr. Martin was born on January 4, 1962, the son of Albert and Donna (Byington) Martin in Kellogg. He grew up and went to school in Kellogg. Growing up, Bret played football, wrestled and had a passion for fast cars. Upon his graduation he started a family and had two children: Greg and Mandy. Bret was a very hard worker. He enjoyed hard rock mining and logging in the forests. He was the drum major for the Wyoming Pipe and Drum Band. In his down time he enjoyed writing poetry, dancing, spending time outdoors with his friends and family. and giving back to his community. Bret was very proud to be a born again Christian. Bret will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bret is survived by his two children: Greg (Angelia) Martin and Mandy Martin all of Rapid City, S.D.; two granddaughters: Kirra and Lillian Martin of Rapid City, S.D.; fiance, Lori Ann (Henaghan) Archer of Gillette, Wyo.; parents: Albert and Donna Martin of Kellogg; sister, Brenda Fredricks of Moses Lake, Wash; brother, Fred Holbert of Fla. and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Blevins and his grandparents.

A Memorial Service was held May 11, 2009, in Gillette, Wyo.

A Celebration of Bret's life will be held at 2p.m. May 23 at the Pinehurst/Kingston Lions Clubhouse. This will be a potluck. Meat and beverages will be provided.
