Kuso hits both, Memphis comes down the court, Kuso blocks it!!! Memphis gets it back, Douglas-Roberts gets fouled and the basket is good. Douglas-Roberts misses the freethrow, Zags get it!!! Outlet to Pargo, Pargo dribbles up court, Pargo for 3 for the win, and off the rim! Zags lose a heartbreaker by 1, 78-77. Pour guys really had to dig down tonight against the 9th ranked team in the nation. They showed some guts tonight being undermanned. How quickly a season can turn around with the selfish decisions of a couple players. It is going to be tough for the Zags to make the tourney this year, tho they are still capable, just have an uphill battle thru the conference. A win today would have been huge, beating Memphis and UNC in the same season would have been major points for the tourney.

Figured I would use this thread from last year as the title is still appropriate... Well, on Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m. PST, the Zags will play at the #1 team in the Nation, Memphis Tigers... Is there any chance of an upset? I think the Zags would have to play the game of the season to pull it off, but I am optimistic that they will keep it close. I just don't want them to get blown out... In years past the Zags have made their living taking down top-ranked teams and they did it to #2 North Carolina last year and have beaten multiple Top 5 teams the past 9 seasons. Wouldn't it be something if they could take out the #1 team this year...

I'm hope they make a good showing of it. Last couple of games they have been blowing people out, and then lose their focus. Letting crappy teams back in the game. Can't imagine they will ever be up enough on Memphis to lose their focus. So maybe it will be a good thing. And by the way. Is there any 6'11" guy in the country with weaker post moves the Hyveltt? If he would just learn to stand up straight during a simple drop step he would be unstopable. He never uses his body. I keep hoping he'll get back to what he was early last year, but I haven't seen it yet. Steven Gray is really growing on me. Good defense. Long. Great shooter. I can see why Few plays him so much.

It will definitely be an interesting game. I hope they give a good showing. This is College Basketball, and anything can happen. I do believe that Memphis is very good, but they do play in probably one of weakest conferences in the country. As long as the Zags keep their focus, it will be a good game. Heytvelt needs to step up and the young guys need to step up also. Bouldin cannot go scoreless during this game, if he does, they have no chance. Memphis' athletic ability will be very tough to overcome. But if they play smart, they can do it. Just cross your fingers, but dont hold your breath.

By the way Holmgren will be back one more year like i said, and i can almost guarantee Mora will replace him the following year. Lets hope they really address this running back situation and go after it in the draft aggressively.

I hope I am wrong on this but my prediction is that the Zags will be down 10 to 15 points most of the game. They will make a run and cut it to five with about 8 minutes to play. However, Memphis will be too much.

Gonzaga 68

However, if the Zags don't let them play their run and gun street ball, and control the tempo, I think they will have a shot...

Casey - I can totally see the game going that way. I think this is a different type of Gonzaga team than past years though. They don't seem capable of playing mistake free basketball, but they can run with just about anyone. I still think they would have had Tennesse is Daye didn't start Jacking up crazy shots at the end of the game. If they run, and keep the turnovers to around 15 they have a chance.

Good points Brian... I am ready to see them have their break-out game against a great team. Hopefully, this will be the week... Pargo really worries me in this game as it seems like when he goes against a guy who is just as good/better than him, he tries to take over too much and is a turnover machine. He will more than likely be going head-to-head with Derrick Rose, who is even quicker than Jeremy. I hope he can keep the turnovers down and play team ball.

Pargo is fine going to the hole as long as he is heading to score. when he gets cut off though he just turns his back, and gets stuck way to deep with his back to the basket. Either shoot or don't go past the freethrow line on the break! That said he should be able to push Rose around pretty good. He could post him up all night as long as Dorsey doesn't come over and help. Gonzaga has always got killed by quick penetrating gaurds. Maybe steven gray on rose will be a good match up.
