That sounds funny, Las Vegas Supersonics, but i doubt it will happen that they will move to Vegas, OKC is most likely to happen.

this saddens me - Kevin Durant will most likely be playing for Oklahoma! I guess sonics fans can always look at it this way - if they lose the #2 pick to Oklahoma then they will eventualy get the #1 pick from Portland. Start rooting for Greg Oden Sonic fans!

According to the papers there is still a chance the Sonics will stay, but if they do leave Sonic fans will at least get to see Durant play one year in Seattle. That would be sad funny if they had a huge playoff run or better and then leave.
I've always liked the Blazers too though. I followed the team for years while living in Astoria in the late 80's/early 90's. The year they went and played the Bulls was probably the only time I didn't like Jordan.

Last night was the NBA's absolute worst nightmare come true. The two phenoms of this year's draft and cornerstones of two franchises both got sent to the Pacific Northwest (even if for one year for Seattle). Most people outside of Washington, Oregon, and North Idaho don't even realize that there are NBA teams in Seattle and Portland. Now, the NBA will be forced to show Portland and Seattle on national television frequently next year, as people will want to see those two studs play... I think it is absoultely hilarious! The other 47 states are irate right now and the NBA Execs are sweating bullets...

Oden is 100% guaranteed for Portland, he will be a cornerstone for that team for years to come. Durant needs to go to a team that has a cornerstone big man like ODen, i think that will make them tough. If Seattle keeps Rashard and drafts Durant, then they have two players that play the same position and have the same game, i dont think that will work out very well for them, but stranger things have happened. It should be an interesting season next year, by the way, my prediction is Kevin Garnett to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom. Look out Pacifi Division!

The NBA has sure had a rough couple of weeks which will continue the next few weeks:

1. Because of their rule they have in place, they essentially cost the Phoenix Suns the NBA Title and are on the major hot-seat for it.
2. Their ratings for the NBA Finals will plummet not having high-octane offenses like Phoenix or Dallas. Fans will not watch San Antonio vs. Detroit and their 74-68 final scores for each game of the series. (They better hope LeBron can pull off the upset so there will at least be a few people who watch.)
3. Portland and Seattle win the lottery – Will be forced to show small-market teams hidden in the Pacific Northwest on National tv all next year
4. With Portland and Seattle winning the lottery, the already superior Western Conference now acquires the two phenoms (Oden & Durant) to two of its worst teams, even furthering the gap between the Western & Eastern Conferences for the next 10-15 years.

Rough, rough couple of weeks for the National Ballas Association (as Golf Coach calls it. LOL). Only people in Portland, Seattle, Oklahoma City, Las Vegas were happy last night and only people in San Antonio or Detroit will be happy at the end of June. The other 98% of the country who are NBA fans are having a pretty bad month and David Stern must just be beside himself…

As usual, solid post Rock. Are you referring to the "leave the bench" rule? yeah that is totally stupid... I loved Charles Barkley's reaction that night. He is flat out hilarious.

Sorry Ken, but I have to agree with Simon. The only thing I like about the Lakers is a certain big guy who used to play for the Zags. However, I do respect so players do a degree and appreciate the athletic talent of Kobe. I do enjoy to see them lose though. 8)

ugh - Laker haters!!!! Don't be hatin' just because your boys can't hang with the best! I love the Purple and Gold baby!!

Ken - KG for Bynum and Odom would only work if the Lakers got some 1st rounders to go with the trade. KG is still one of the NBA's best players but he is almost 31 years old. I really wouldn't mind the Lakers trading Bynum because of the way the big men are these days in the NBA. The game is played at such a high tempo that the Amare Staudamires of the world are replacing the Bill Waltons of yester-year. Why not trade a center that pretty much every NBA team other than Portland would over pay to get?

Roops, i agree, the big powerful big men are of the past, the athletic ones are the players of today. And i agree the Lakers would have to get some first rounders to go along with KG to make it work.

By the way, i went and saw a Lakers game in Denver this year and without thinking, i wore my Zags sweatshirt and was rooting for the best Zags big man of ALL TIME!!!! it was fun to get to watch him get alot of playing time. I think he is really going to help the Lakers out, they need to play him more.

Phil Jackson absolutely puzzles me... when the Lakers were struggling to play good team ball, well just good ball all together, he inserted Ronny in to the starting lineup. Turiaf added so much energy and the Lakers started winning - Kwame Brown got healthy and Jackson put Turiaf so far down the bench that you needed mapquest just to find him. I'm just not sure if I really like Phil Jackson any more (as a coach of course).

In my opinion Phil Jackson is a great coach when he has the best player in the league and another Top 5 player along side him (Jordan/Pippen, Shaq/Kobe). But when he doesn't have the best team/players it seems like you said Rooops, he struggles to find consistent lineups and goes away from what was working...

I will admit. I am a full force, lifetime, passionate Laker HATER 4 life! I am working on my hatred, as I know it isn't healthy to carry around, but I just can't seem to shake it. My lifetime and good friend Ken knows of my hatred and accepts me despite of it.

I guess the main reason for my dislike of the Lakers is Kobe "It's All About Me" Bryant. This is one of the reasons I don't watch much NBA. The fact that it is more important for a guy to score 80 points in a game than it is to make it out of the first round of the playoffs just makes me want to throw up in my mouth. When Shaq was around and they were dominating, Kobe was always causing crap by stirring up controversy over who's team it was. I won't even elaborate on the whole cheating on his wife thing because that in itself is another tangent I can go off on.

I can't explain it but they are easily in my top 5 despised teams of all time... going something like this:

1. USC
2. LA/Oakland Raiders
3. LA Lakers
4. Free Shoes University
5. New York Yankees

I'd have to go along with that. I love the "free shoes university" !
I'd add though:
49'rs, bears, and cowboys.
If I had my way they would lose every game for 10 years and then disband the franchises!
My hate for the Yankees pretty much floats around, I can barely say his name, Steinbrenner (sp, and I'm glad of it).

I agree with u Simon,

But alot of it boils down to the Lakers not getting the right players to play along side Kobe. I also think that Phil Jackson is coaching alot on his reputation rather than COACHING!!! thats the name of the game. Just like Roops said, when the Lakers were playing good, Turiaf was right in the thick of things, i think he a much bigger upside than what Kwame Brown has shown in his years in the NBA. Kwame Brown has the wrong attitude to be a starter and big name in this business. Rony Turiaf has the energy and the heart(no pun intended) to succeed in this league. Just like the good teams in this league, the Lakers are one Superstar away. They need a KG to help them out of the First Round. As for my top 5 most hated teams of all time.

1. Boston Celtics/Detroit Pistons/ San Antonio Spurs
2. USC Trojans/ Nebraska Cornhuskers
3. New York Yankees/ Los Angeles Dodgers
4. Dallas Cowboys/ Denver Broncos
5. Duke Blue Devils/ Kentucky Wildcats

Ooooops, i cant count, but i think u can see.

Good post Ken. I agree with you.

I am also honored that you didn't put my Irish on your most hated list. LOL

Perhaps we should start a thread on "Most Despised Sports Teams" :x
